The film “Hsi Shih” was at the time the biggest-budget Chinese language movie ever made in Taiwan. And the protagonist Chiang made close to 30 films in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the 1960's and 1970's. She hit her big time in Taiwan's film industry and won the Best Actress Award at the Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival in 1967. She was the only movie/stage artist who traversed the three Chinese political entities – PRC, British colonial Hong Kong, and Taiwan – during the Cold War.
In 1970, Chiang left the Taiwan/Hong Kong film industry at the height of her popularity to pursue a dance career in New York. She is now living between New York and Sweden and we are honored to invite her to attend the screening on April 25th.

Pai Hsien-Yung and Liao Chiung-Chih were 2 of the National Cultural Award Laureates. The Executive Yuan National Cultural Award is a lifetime achievement award that honors those who have made special contributions to the maintenance or enhancement of culture, and is the highest honor for an individual in cultural circles of Taiwan. Since the award was established by the Executive Yuan of Taiwan in 1980, more than 70 artists have been honored in fields such as education, literature, cinematic, art and dance etc.
