Dear friends and colleagues,
What a journey 2022 has been for us.
In January, Taipei Cultural Center in New York welcomed our first artists since March 2020. During the pandemic, Wei-Chia Su (蘇威嘉), Yu-Ting Fang (方妤婷), and Hoa Cheng (鄭皓) traveled to New York from halfway around the world to perform at the 2022 Contemporary Dance Festival: Japan + East Asia and received critical acclaim from the New York Times, Broadway World, and Dance Tabs for their performance.
This year, the dedication of many truly incredible Taiwanese artists has allowed us to share wonderful moments and showcase the beauty of Taiwanese art with you all. On behalf of TCCNY, I would like to thank Tsai Ming-liang (蔡明亮), Lee Kang-sheng (李康生), Anong Houngheuangsy (亞儂弘尚希), Tom Teng (鄧仲謀), C.J. Wang (王希捷), Wen-Yee Hsieh (謝文毅), Wei-Chia Su (蘇威嘉), Yu-Ting Fang (方妤婷), Hoa Cheng (鄭皓), Michael Lin(林明弘), Hsin-Chien Huang (黃心健), Leigh Li-Yun Wen (鄭麗雲), Cheng Tsung Feng (范承宗), Chien-Fan Liu (劉倩帆), Ruei-Yi Fang (房瑞儀), Wu Chien-Hsing (吳建興), Ying-Chiun Lee (李穎軍), Alice Nien-Pu Ko (柯念璞), Sandra Hsu (徐有潔), Hsin-Chin Evelyn Hsieh (謝欣岑), Yu-Ying Wu (吳郁瑩), Yuchin Chen (陳又津), Chi Ta-Wei (紀大偉), and Kevin Chen (陳思宏), as well as the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan (雲門舞集), Ju Percussion Group (朱宗慶打擊樂團), and Shan Puppet Theater (山宛然客家布袋戲團).
By sharing their talents with a broader audience, even more people have been able to experience a slice of Taiwan. In addition, our lobby is now filled with the warmth and vibrant color of Taiwan. Thanks to the completion of "Island Life," Michael Lin's large-scale, site-specific art installation. We welcome everyone to stop by and immerse themselves in Lin’s beautiful painting.
Thank you so much for your continued support for TCCNY. Happy New Year!
