What happens when four American dancers and four Taiwanese dancers ?nd themselves together in a dance studio for three weeks? Add a renowned Cambodian-born and Taiwan-
based choreographer whose formative years were spent in Australia? And spice up the mix with newly commissioned music by a New York City-based composer who counts both hip hop and Bach as major influences? The answer will explode onstage this summer as Nimbus Dance Works Artistic Director Samuel Pott and Taiwanese choreographer Xiao-Xiong Zhang bring their companies together. Created by Zhang, and performed by a world-class cast of dancers from Taipei Crossover and Nimbus, this new work? The Butterfly Dream?revolves around notions of self-invention and re-creation, drawing on the diverse backgrounds of the dancers. In a whirlwind tour that will take the production from Rutgers University to Jacob's Pillow, from Jersey City to New York City, this collaborative team will explore how dance can supersede language as a form of international cooperation and expression.

Nimbus Dance WorksNimbus Dance Works focuses its work on the intersection between high-level dance and innovative ways of involving communities and audiences. Through critically acclaimed performances throughout New Jersey and the Northeast, programs and partnerships with New Jersey institutions, and collaborations with notable composers and visual artists, Nimbus weaves together artistic excellence and community impact. Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Samuel Pott, Nimbus maneuvers and blurs the lines between the seemingly disparate worlds of rarified technical dance and community and service-based work.

Taipei Crossover Dance Company Taipei Crossover Dance Company was founded in 1994. Having witnessed the growth of Taiwan modern dance on the local and international stages, the company focuses on breaking the barriers around the world of dance, summoning artists from different fields in order to experiment with a more pluralistic kind of theatrical art. Every year, the company invites artists of different ?elds from the world to collaborate. They explore
both the experimental spirit and sophisticated technical work in relation to performance, while moving beyond the boundaries and confines of dance. Through drama, music, literature, painting, installation art, costume design, music composition and multi-media, the company has established a distinct style of "musical dance theatre," and is recognized as one of Asia's most interesting and inventive dance companies.
