Taipei Crossover Dance Company
Choreography by Xiao-Xiong Zhang

? Asunder III? explores the most basic human desires and the most precious things the soul can admit and contain. Choreographer Xiao-Xiong Zhang draws on his background as a photographer, utilizing his strong visual sense to create striking pieces in which the dancer becomes a ?owing statue. ?Asunder III? showcases this ?photographic? quality, and attempts to portray humanity´s eternal quest to achieve transcendence in the face of hardship. By clothing the dancer in black-and-white angel feathers, Zhang removes all emblems of time and era, creating a symbol of rebirth and of the escape from original sin.

Taipei Crossover Dance Company was founded in 1994. Having witnessed the growth of Taiwan modern dance on the local and international stages, the company focuses on breaking the barriers around the world of dance, summoning artists from different fields in order to experiment with a more pluralistic kind of theatrical art. Every year, the company invites artists of different ?elds from the world to collaborate. They explore both the experimental spirit and sophisticated technical work in relation to performance, while moving beyond the boundaries and confines of dance. Through drama, music, literature, painting, installation art, costume design, music composition and multi-media, the company has established a distinct style of ?musical dance theatre,? and is recognized as one of Asia's most interesting and inventive
dance companies.
