8213 Physical Dance Theater

8213 Physical Dance Theater was founded in 2006 by Chuo-Tai Sun, who has devoted several years to revolutionizing performance art in Taiwan. Through gathered experiences from growing up in Taiwan and traveling across many continents, Mr. Sun creates work to extract and examine the essence of modern Taiwanese culture. Mr. Sun creates work that is innovative and electric, using the city's pulse and the human body to ignite kinesthetic responses. He hopes to infuse the dance scene with fresh ideas and performances that are both deep and entertaining.
8213 emphasizes multicultural collaborations. In 2006 American choreographer Casey Avaunt received a scholarship from the Chin-Lin Foundation to join 8213 and has been collaborating with the company ever since. She created ?It's Not Too Late. . .?which won ?rst place in Taiwan's 2009 Creative Dance Competition. Casey is currently receiving her master's degree in Choreography at Taipei National University of the Arts.
