Pixilerations is a new media showcase in Providence, Rhode Island that investigates the state of new media arts through installations, concert performances and film/video screenings. It is part of the larger FirstWorks Festival (www.first-works.org), a multidimensional performing arts festival held in Providence each fall. Pixilerations is produced by FirstWorks in collaboration with the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, and the City of Providence's Department of Art, Culture + Tourism. Now in its seventh year, Pixilerations showcases groundbreaking work in digital music and art. Last year's festival, Pixilerations [v.6]: The Great Disruption, presented innovative works by over sixty artists from the United States, England, Italy, Spain, Holland, Austria, Canada, and Brazil, and featured guest artists Pauline Oliveros and Dean & Britta.

For the 2010 showcase of New Media Art, Pixilerations's theme is "Pairing"? two are better than one. Pixilerations is looking for work that is pairs media, is the result of pairings of artists or uses duos of contrasting elements, links different forms of working, joins content drawn from different realms, and employs social pairings.
This is the first time that there will be a Taiwanese artist selected to participate in the event. For further information about the Taiwanese artist and 2010 Pixilerations, please visit the websites on: www.pixilerations.org and www.tpecc.org.
