In January 2025, the Taipei Cultural Center in New York will continue its longstanding participation in the annual conferences of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) and the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), showcasing Taiwan's dynamic performing arts at the world’s premier gatherings for industry professionals.
• APAP (January 10-14, 2025)
The Taipei Cultural Center in New York has been participating in the annual APAP conferences since 2001. For 2025, we are collaborating with the National Taichung Theater (臺中國家歌劇院) and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) (衛武營國家藝術文化中心) to exhibit at APAP’s EXPO Commons. Be sure to visit booths #122, #117, and #118 at the New York Hilton Midtown to explore Taiwan’s vibrant performing arts landscape.
Adding to the excitement, several renowned Taiwanese performing arts companies will also be in attendance, representing a rich diversity of genres. These include:
• Unique Puppet Theater (不貳偶劇)
• Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry Company (真快樂掌中劇團)
• The Puppet & Its Double Theater (無獨有偶工作室劇團)
• Resident Island Dance Theatre (滯留島舞蹈劇場)
• Hung Dance (翃舞製作), whose work “The Peter Pan” will be featured at APAP’s “UP NEXT! Artist Pitch Session” on January 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
By engaging directly with North American performing arts professionals, these groups aim to introduce their tour-ready works to new audiences across the globe.
• ISPA (January 14-16, 2025)
The Taipei Cultural Center in New York has been an active participant in ISPA’s annual congresses since 2012. In 2025, the project “One Ocean” by Taiwan’s Small Island Big Song has notably been selected for ISPA’s Pitch New Works session. This marks the fourth consecutive year that a Taiwanese performing arts work has been featured in this high-profile program.
Supported by the Taiwan Fellowship Programs in collaboration with the Taipei Cultural Center and ISPA, four Taiwanese performing arts professionals will also join the 2025 ISPA congress:
• Hsu Tzu-yin (許慈茵), Independent Project Manager
• BaoBao Chen (陳玟臻), Co-founder and Creative Producer, Small Island Big Song
• Chih-Wei Lin (林智偉), Founder, Formosa Circus Art (FOCA)
• Yinru Lo (羅尹如), Producer and Manager, Against Again Troupe
These talented fellows will bring invaluable perspectives from Taiwan, amplifying the voices of Taiwanese performing artists and groups while fostering opportunities for international collaborations and exchanges.
