We would like to share a great and young dance company which has a perfect combination of eastern philosophy and western elements from Taiwan, Wind Dance Theatre. The theatre was founded by Wu I-Fang and Mickey Mi in 2002. Wu is the former principal dancer and rehearsal director of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, and Mi has been a theatre producer for over a decade.

The Wind Dance Theatre is led by Founder and Artistic Director Wu I-Fang. During his 18 years with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Wu had performed all the leading male roles in Cloud Gate's repertoire, including his most memorable role, The God of the Clouds in Nine Songs, which was specifically created for him, and which The New York Times hailed as "spectacular dance". His performance also earned him the honor of "The Brightest Dancer on Stage", voted by Taiwanese media and student dancers.

Maintaining the philosophy that everyone can enjoy dance, Wu I-Fang, founded Wind Dance Theatre in December 2002. Wind Dance Theatre brings the art of dance into everyday life, upholding that dance is a natural movement springing from the spirit for all to enjoy either as audience members or via dancing for fun. In pursuit of this ideology, Wu I-Fang takes two routes simultaneously. For its annual performance, Wind Dance Theatre integrates the strength of artists from various disciplines and creates innovative dance performances that reveal the potential of art and human development.

For this time, Wind dance will present two excerpted scenes from its full-length work Optic Fun, incorporating elaborate lighting and video projections of geometric images that fuse with the dancer's body to create captivating illusions. They will bring you a journey full with power and fantasy. Please come and enjoy with us!
