Sun Son Theatre was established in 1998 as a cross-disciplinary performance troupe. The name "Sun Son" comes from the Chinese words for 'body' and 'sound' -- two main areas of artistic focus for the group. Sun Son seeks to study the pure power that comes from the body and sound, by drawing inspiration from studies of the artistry of ancient music and dance forms. Each Sun Son Theatre's performer is a percussionist, singer, and dancer. This interesting mix makes Sun Son Theatre hard to categorize the style, yet making it unique. Through simple performance forms, Sun Son Theatre's performances aim to reveal the richness of a vitality that resides within all of us.

The program ?Into The Flood?, a modern fable about flooding, uses and combines elements of drama, body movements, singing, musical instruments, masks, and puppets to express our deep connection with the mother Earth. The warriors represent courage for carrying the responsibility and meeting self- challenges. The villagers help and encourage each other to carry on, despite of the disaster. After accepting the reality, people move on to face the unknowns and any predicament lying ahead with great resilience. The program also uses symbols and elements from both the aboriginal people and the Mother Nature to represent the positive and adventurous spirit that we have in the face of plight. Through humorous and light-hearted music, ambience, body movements and drama, people and animals join hands and hoofs in this wonderful production. Together, the distress situation is transformed into an interesting adventure, which makes the transit of life with love and courage.
