The 2011 Taiwan International Wood Sculpture Competition Open Call deadline for applications is June 11, 2011.

Taipei Cultural Center is pleased to announce the open call of Taiwan International Wood Sculpture Competition, a competition that is to enhance international cultural exchange as well as to promote the inheritance and innovation of the art of woodcarving.

The long established competition invites woodcarving artists to submit their works and win the competition with a monetary award of USD 20,000. All entries will be on display in San Yi Wood Sculpture Museum where located in the county of San Yi. The craft of woodcarving has a long history in the little county. The people of the county who worship the craftsmanship also witness the loss of the craft because of mass production. At last the craft of woodcarving is preserved and became the character of the county.

Works must be original and may not have entered in other competitions, or shown in any public/private exhibitions. The competition put emphasis on works that are created with either traditional/contemporary single wood or complex materials. The competition goes through two stages, preliminary selection and final selection. The size of each work is confined within 23.6 inches and 59 inches for every length, width and height.
