  • Date:2012-12-21

Collaborated with Japan Society, Taipei Cultural Center in New York is proud to co-present Contemporary Dance Showcase: Japan + East Asia during the NYC conference of Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) in January of 2013. Anarchy Dance Theatre is invited to perform the Seventh Sense, a dance work integrated with the new media art, in Japan Society at 7:30pm from January 11th to 12th. In addition to Anarchy Dance Theatre, we are proud to present Makoto Enda & Kutomaro Mukai, KENTARO!! and Tokyo Electrock Stairs from Tokyo, and Monochrome Circus from Kyoto, Japan.

Anarchy Dance Theatre, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, R.O.C. (Taiwan), participates in the Contemporary Dance Showcase: Japan + East Asia with an aim to promote excellent dance companies from Taiwan to the performing arts presenters and the extensive audiences during APAP conference. Anarchy Dance Theatre was founded in 2010, dedicated to creating dance theatre to express its concern on human beings and their life through the body movements.

Specialized in architecture and dance, the artistic director of Anarchy Dance Theatre, Chieh-Hua Hsieh’s choreography breaks with tradition, and shows his creativity and strong ambition in utilizing the performing space; in addition, his sensitivity in applying the new media art and technology in his choreography. Seventh Sense is the first production of the integrated technological dance, collaborating with Ultra Combos, an interactive new media art design company. Dancers’ movement will trigger the interactive projection. Audiences will have the opportunity to appreciate not only the dance work itself, but the impromptu moving images and sound with the high technology. Seventh Sense is commissioned by the New Media and Techno Performing Arts Collaborative Creation Project of the Ministry of Culture in 2011, and was invited to present in TodayArts Festival in Netherlands and Centro Parraga in Spain.

In order to promote the modern dance, and introduce the dance crossover with the technology arts, Taiwan Academy and Taipei Cultural Center in New York invites Nathalie Angles, the director of the renowned art organization in New York, Residency Unlimited, to host the artistic talk with the choreographer Chieh-Hua Hsieh and the artists of the technology arts. The artistic talk is free admission, and welcomes all the audience with interests in dance and technology arts.

APAP is currently one of the biggest nonprofit organizations for performing arts with members around the world. The annual conference is held in New York City every January. Offices of different countries will showcase their performing arts companies to attract the performing arts presenters of the world to program their productions.
