For eight days this summer, eighteen outstanding young pianists from across the US and the world will gather at the Curtis Institute of Music to study one-on-one with four international concert masters; Ching-Yun Hu (Taiwan / US), Jerome Lowenthal (US), Alexandre Moutouzkine (Russia) and Zou Xiang (China). Established last year by Philadelphia-based pianist Ching-Yun Hu, The Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy (PYPA) is designed to help young artists from Asia and the West achieve their dreams of professional careers as world class concert pianists.

Between July 26 and August 2, 2014, the public is invited to the 240-seat Field Concert Hall at Curtis Institute to attend a series of solo concerts by Hu, Lowenthal, Moutouzkine and Xiang, the prestigious faculty of PYPA 2014 as well as a chamber music concert featuring Ching-Yun Hu with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. All concerts will be performed on the Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano made available to PYPA through a generous donation by Yamaha. Public concert highlights include:

•7:30 pm, Saturday, July 26 - Ching-Yun Hu Solo All Chopin Recital*
*this concert will be recorded live for Cristal Records and SONY Classical, France
•4 pm, Sunday, July 27 - Jerome Lowenthal Solo Recital
•7:30 pm Monday, July 28 - Alexandre Moutouzkine Solo Recital
•7:30 pm Friday, August 1 - Zou Xiang Solo Recital
•7:30 pm Saturday, August 2 - Chamber Music Concert featuring Ching-Yun Hu with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra

Two young artist concerts will be presented in Field Concert Hall at no charge* at 7:30 pm Tuesday, July 29 and at 7:30 pm, Thursday, July 31. *Please note, seats for these two concerts must be reserved in advance.

General admission tickets for each of the PYPA faculty concerts are $20 in advance at www.pypa.info, $25 at the door and $12 for students with valid I.D. Cash only at the door, please. Members of the public can purchase a pass to observe a single day of PYPA master classes for $15.
