2022 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards were announced on Apr. 26, Solo Dance (獨舞者的樂章), directed by Lee Li-shao (李立劭) won the gold medal in the arts category; The Child of Light (光的孩子) by Herb Hsu (徐麗雯) and In Search of Rice Huller (礱之旅) by Wu Wen-rui (吳文睿) received bronze medals in feature films and cultural issues category, respectively.
In his speech, Lee Li-shao revealed that "Solo Dance" is a lost history of dance in Taiwan. The film has uncommon meaning to him and his mother, Lin Ssu-tuan (林絲緞). His mother is very happy about meeting her friends in New York by this film. Her beautiful memories from her youth in NewYork flood back. He hopes everyone enjoy the movie.
For a documentary that introduces the history of the rice hulling industry in Taiwan winning prestigious award, Wu Wen-rui thanked the team for their work in his video speech. Another winner, The Child of Light had bagged several awards in Asia including Golden Bell Awards, now director Herb Hsu has added another honour to her trophy cabinet. She and producer Che-Lung Chang(張哲龍) said they always believe that both light and dark are parts of human nature, therefore, they will embrace both with open mind, and live with god.
The entries that were selected as finalists were "Gold Leaf (茶金)," "The Catch (捕鰻的人)," "Island of Mountains: Believe it or not. This is Taiwan (群山之島與不去會死的他們)," "A Quest for the Everlasting Bloom (藝術很有事－追尋不朽的青春)" and "Aqua Challenge (決戰水下伸展台)."
According to the official website, the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards was established in 1957. The awards honor the best in news, sports, documentary, information, entertainment programs, and more. Film and television entries from 42 countries were judged online by the grand jury of more than 200 producers, directors, writers, and other creative media professionals from around the globe.
