Co-organized by the Taipei Cultural Center in New York (TCCNY), the Michigan Taiwanese American Organization, and the Pingtung County Government, the folk musical "The Chants of Motherland Sagas (半島風聲 相放伴)" is set to make its debut in Michigan and New York, United States, in April, presenting authentic voices and stories from southern Taiwan.

"The Chants of Motherland Sagas" highlights Taiwanese yueqin players and portrays the stories of traditional folk song practitioners from the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), the southernmost region of Taiwan, on stage.

Hui-Chun Chang, director of TCCNY, said that this event aims to showcase Taiwan's rich folk music heritage to the U.S. audience. Alongside musical theater performances, workshops will be held to introduce Hengchun folk music and its accompanying instruments. Additionally, screenings of the acclaimed film "Cape No. 7 (海角七號)" will also take place.

The musical will premiere at the Ann Arbor District Library on April 27 and at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York on April 30.
