Performing Arts from Taiwan to be presented at the ISPA and APAP conferences 2024 in New York City!

In January 2024, the Taipei Cultural Center in New York will take part in the annual conferences of the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) in New York City, featuring numerous established Taiwanese performing arts professionals at the world’s largest meetings in the industry.

    ISPA (January 9-11, 2024)

The Taipei Cultural Center in New York has been attending the ISPA’s annual congresses since 2012. In addition to the Taipei Cultural Center, multiple performing arts professionals from Taiwan will participate in the 2024 congress as well, including Taiwanese contemporary dance troupe Huang Yi Studio + (黃翊工作室), whose latest work Ink (墨) has been selected to be presented at ISPA’s flagship program "Pitch New Works."

Sponsored by the Taiwan Fellowship Program 2023-2025 and in collaboration with the Taipei Cultural Center and ISPA, Taiwanese independent project manager Hsu Tzu-yin (許慈茵) and the co-founder and creative producer of the Small Island Big Song project, BaoBao Chen (陳玟臻), will also take part in the 2024 congress, providing voices from Taiwan and assisting Taiwanese performing artists and groups in gaining more opportunities for international collaborations and exchanges.

    APAP (January 12-16, 2024)

The Taipei Cultural Center in New York has been participating in the annual APAP conferences since 2001. In 2024, the Taipei Cultural Center and the National Taichung Theater (臺中國家歌劇院), along with Bulareyaung Dance Company (布拉瑞揚舞團) and Hung Dance (翃舞製作), will exhibit at APAP’s EXPO Commons (booth #117 and #118) at the New York Hilton Midtown, promoting diverse and vibrant performing artists and groups from Taiwan.

By joining the APAP conference and meeting with international presenters in person, the two dance troupes hope to actively engage with performing arts industry and professionals in the U.S., while also further facilitating their efforts to plan North America tours in the near future.
