"Taiwanese Waves" will return to SummerStage, New York's most beloved and free outdoor performing arts festival, for a day of contemporary music and hip-hop featuring singer Waa Wei (魏如萱), pop duo The Dinosaur’s Skin (恐龍的皮) and DJ Mr. Skin (DJ賴皮) on July 23 at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

SummerStage is held annually from June through October. As the first country in Asia to receive an official invitation, the segment "Taiwanese Waves," curated by Taiwanese curator Mia (嚴敏), has brought musicians to the festival for four consecutive years since 2016. However, it was put on pause after the last show in August 2019 due to the pandemic. Music artists from Taiwan who previously participated in the festival include singers Deserts Chang (安溥), One-Fang (萬芳), hip-hop artist Soft Lipa (蛋堡), and punk rock band Fire Ex. (滅火器).

Announcing the return of "Taiwanese Waves" on its Facebook page, the team expressed their excitement in participating in this year's festival and added that they hope to alleviate the impact of the pandemic by creating a fun and jolly atmosphere at the event while welcoming the post-pandemic era.

SummerStage annually presents nearly 80 free and benefit performances in Central Park and neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs to 217,000 fans. Returning for its 37th year, the festival will once again showcase established and emerging artists from across the globe, presenting a multitude of genres including salsa, jazz, hip-hop, indie rock, reggae, Afrobeats, soul, pop, global, contemporary dance, and many more. Since its inception nearly 40 years ago, more than six million people from New York City and around the world have enjoyed SummerStage.
