Get ready, NYC! The 6th edition of the beloved live concert “Taiwanese Waves” is returning to SummerStage in Central Park on August 3, 2025, with bold, fresh sounds and dance straight from Taiwan!
This year’s show will feature:
• Bulareyaung Dance Company (布拉瑞揚舞團) – Founded in 2015 by renowned Indigenous choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava, this Taitung-based contemporary dance troupe draws from Indigenous traditions, nature, and deep cultural roots to create powerful and unique performances. This is the first time contemporary dance will be included in Taiwanese Waves.
• ABAO (阿爆) – A celebrated Indigenous pop artist from the Paiwan people, ABAO performs in her native language and is known for her vibrant sound and cultural storytelling. Making her second appearance at Taiwanese Waves, ABAO will be joined by Nanguaq Girls (那屋瓦少女隊), a young Indigenous vocal group from Taiwan.
• Enno Cheng (鄭宜農) – A singer-songwriter, actress, and author, Enno is known for her sparse, airy piano-based pop songs. In addition to releasing a number of solo albums, each with outer space-themed titles, she also performs with the band Chocolate Tiger (猛虎巧克力).
Curated by Mia Min Yen, founder of Woozi Studio, “Taiwanese Waves” aims to widen people’s perspectives of what music from Taiwan sounds like. This year’s event will feature performances in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Indigenous languages, offering a vibrant mix of cultures and styles.
